Default Best Co-op play build?

Looking for some advice on Character Builds for Roleplaying.

Whats the most fun build to play throughout the game?

I've tried N/Me, E/Mo and was thinking about an R/Mo or R/E.
I've never really tried Rangers, and hardly know a thing about them.
Are they good damage dealers etc?

Thanks.

In my experience, no matter what class combination you choose, you can always tailor a build to it to make it effective in PvE. It's just the matter of finding the right skills, some of which you won't get until much later in the "Campaign".

As for rangers, they're the sort of "jack of all trades" character that can do pretty much anything. In the beginning of the game, you might want to rely on your bow and survival skills and ignore your secondary class... for the moment. Fill out your skillbar with high damage yielding bow skills and preparations like ignite arrows, penetrating shot, and powershot. Tack on troll unguent. You'll find yourself using it with alarming frequency. Take the two pet skills, comfort animal and charm animal too. Some people might disagree with me and think the pet is useless, but in the early stages of the game, when you have limited energy and there simply aren't that many usefull skills you can put on your skill bar, your pet becomes the most economic solution in the long run. Of course, you can't forget a res signet. This leaves one spot open for whatever you'd like. If there's more than one ranger in your party, then tack on favorable winds. If your party is lacking in warriors, tack on an escaping skill, like stormchaser or dodge, to maintain range.

As a Second Class I was thinking of a Ranger/Monk in favour of a Ranger/Elementalist -I find Elementalists boring IMO.

I heard Rangers were weak against Melee and being teamed at close quarters, so Symbol of Wrath as a Monk ability could be useful. While allowing myself to heal.

I'm still unsure about ranger strengths and weaknesses, so if anyone could help I would be glad

In my experience i've found that rangers are fun to play and they have the 2nd best armor in the game as far as def goes. Also they offer a variety of play styles, Trapper, Beastmaster, Straight Bow, or when combined with a warrior secondary like mine is they are fun melee characters once you get apply poison + cyclone axe, makes killing mobs of charr fun. They have a varitable bonanza when it comes to being a "fun" class, the only limit to the type of build you make is your imagination (and the skills of course). I'd like to see a ranger Necro though, i can only imagine a pet and about 15 minions would wreak some havoc.
